St. Margaret's National School
St. Margaret's National School is located in the small North Co. Dublin village of St. Margarets which is close to Dublin Airport.The school has a long history and has been an integral part of the St. Margaret’s Parish Community since the late 1800’s. The current school premises was built in 1956.
Awareness and protection of the environment play a very important role in our overall ethos and the daily running of the school. The school was awarded its 3rd Active Flag in 2021, its 8th Green Flag and 1st Amber Flag in June 2023. We received our first Curious Minds Platinum Award in 2023 for our extensive work in Minecraft Education and Mathematics. In 2024 we were awarded our 2nd Platinum Award for our work in Engineering and Maths.
The Principal of the school is Ms. Ciara Gaughan. Ms. Gráinne Noone is Acting Principal at this time.

Trip to Microsoft ‘Dream Space’
5th and 6th Class took a trip to ‘Dream Space’ in One Microsoft Place. In preparation for their visit, they pondered the questions: ‘How will the world be different in 2050?’ and ‘What would you like to be when you grow up?’.
Active School Slogan 2022- 2023
The children came up with their own slogans and colourful posters to promote the importance ‘being active’. They came up with so many creative ideas and the overall winner was Zoe Madigan in Third Class who came up with the slogan ‘Put Down Your Switch and Get On The Pitch’.

Green Team 2022- 2023
St Margarets NS are delighted to introduce our new Green Team. Joey, Kinga, Rhys, Harry, Emma, Ryan, Kate and Conor. We are so proud of all the boys and girls who show such passion in caring for the environment and our global community. St Margaret’s has participated in the Greenschools programme for many years now.
Meet the Active Squad 2022- 2023
This years Active Squad is made up of children from Infants to 6th class. The children in the Active Squad have the busy job of organising fun activities and sports events for the whole school. hey are also responsible for setting up the equipment for our active yards daily as well as acting as playground leaders.
Space Week 2022
One small step for man, one giant leap for St. Margarets NS! Our Infant classes learned all about Space through Aistear and really immersed themselves into the theme!
- The ‘ethos’ of St. Margaret’s National School encompasses collective attitudes, beliefs, core values, traditions, aspirations and goals. These are reflected in the actual practices which are carried out in the school on a daily, weekly and yearly basis. While it is impossible to outline all aspects of the school ‘ethos’, the following characteristics are experienced and promoted as essential elements in the establishment of a supportive and positive ‘ethos’.
- In St. Margaret’s National School, where the ethos is that of a Christian Catholic school, religious instruction, in accordance with the doctrine and tradition of the Catholic Church is part of the education given to children who belong to that Church.
- The pupils are prepared for the reception of the sacraments of First Confession, First Holy Communion and Confirmation, in accordance with arrangements in the diocese.
- Ancillary staff in the school are highly esteemed and respected. It is recognised that their work makes a valued contribution to the process of education.
- Prayer is a feature of the school day.
- The school aims at promoting the full and harmonious development of all aspects of the pupil, including his / her relationship with God, with other people and with the environment.
- The Principal and teaching staff aim at maintaining high professional standards and creating a safe and happy environment.
- A spirit of mutual respect is promoted within the school community. Pupils are drawn by example and teaching to appreciate and respect people of different religious affiliations and of different nationalities.
- Close contact is maintained between school and home. Parents/guardians and teachers support one another and collaborate with one another in leading the children to the fullness of their potential at the different stages.
