St. Margaret’s National School celebrated a momentous occasion today as Laura Patton McDonald was crowned the winner of the highly competitive Active Slogan Competition. Her inspiring slogan, *”Get Fit to Get Fast ’cause if you Sit you’ll be Last!”*, stood out among numerous entries from students, encapsulating the essence of an active lifestyle with creativity and enthusiasm.
The competition, part of the school’s Active School Flag initiative, encourages students to think critically about the importance of fitness and well-being. Laura’s clever use of rhyme and her motivational message caught the attention of the judging panel, which included teachers and local fitness enthusiasts.
Active Schools Coordinator Ms. Gorman praised Laura’s contribution, stating, “Her slogan is not only catchy but also a great reminder for everyone that staying active is essential. It reflects the values we aim to instill in our students – health, determination, and positivity.”
Laura, beaming with pride, accepted her award and shared her excitement. “I just wanted to come up with something fun that would get people moving. It’s really cool that my slogan will be used to inspire others in the school.”
The Active Slogan Competition is one of many activities at St. Margaret’s NS designed to promote physical activity, with the school firmly committed to fostering an environment where fitness and fun go hand in hand. Laura’s slogan will now be displayed throughout the school, reminding her peers that staying active can lead to success both in sports and in life.
Congratulations to Laura for her fantastic achievement!
