We were delighted to participate in the Active Break Every Day Challenge 2026. This a national initiative from the Department of Education and Youth, supported by Healthy Ireland.
The challenge was designed to energise the school day and support students in achieving the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Throughout the initiative, our classes incorporated short, fun movement breaks into classroom time, helping to boost concentration, wellbeing, and overall fitness.
This challenge was open to all primary, post-primary, and special schools across the country. The 2026 challenge was proudly supported by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). In partnership with the Active School Flag team, the GAA created a series of engaging movement break videos in both English and Irish to support participating schools.
Each video was filmed in a unique location around Croke Park, giving our students a special behind-the-scenes experience. Classes enjoyed a glimpse of:
-
Where the team buses arrive
-
The players’ dressing rooms
-
The warm-up areas where legends prepare for big games
Students also learned fascinating facts about Croke Park while staying active and having fun.
We are very proud of our students for their enthusiastic participation and commitment throughout the challenge. Well done to everyone involved!
