We’ve provided a set of links below to resources and online tools for our pupils to engage with at home during the current school closure period.

 

RTÉ Home School Hub

RTÉ have introduced a cross-platform teaching initiative for primary school kids across the country. On RTÉ2, RTÉ Player, and rte.ie/learn, children are be able to watch, download and engage with curriculum-based content, project work, and fun activities that will keep them entertained and learning.

RTÉ Home School Hub is broadcast each morning from 11am to 12 noon on RTÉ2. There are three short class segments aimed at 1st and 2nd class, 3rd and 4th class and 5th and 6th class. The TV programme will keep the kids watching and learning for the hour and then redirect them to fun content and project work that will be housed on rte.ie/learn and RTÉ Player.

A catch-up programme later in the day, RTÉ Home School Extra at 4.15pm, is a takeover format, where primary school kids from all over the country can reconnect by uploading and posting video messages and content that RTÉ will showcase.

Physical Education 

GoNoodle is a super website full of engaging movement and mindfulness videos which the students in our school really enjoy. Create an account for free as a parent and you will have access to unlimited fun and engaging videos that will get your children moving.

Joe Wicks aka The Body Coach will be doing a special series of workouts called ‘P.E. with Joe’ for children at home during this school closure. This will commence on Monday 23rd March and will be streamed live every morning at 9am on his YouTube channel ‘The Body Coach TV’. The Body Coach also has plenty of 5 minute kids workouts and other free 30 minute workouts for all the family on his YouTube channel.

Literacy

Audiobooks for kids/Audible.com has made hundreds of audible titles free to kids of all ages during school closures.

Oxford Owl has an excellent free ebook collection for children aged 3-11. Create an account for free as a parent and you will have access to many ebooks.

Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations.

Pobble365 offers anchors for creative writing and develops imagination.

The Children’s University of Manchester has been designed to support children aged 7-11. You will find activities and interactive games here based on the  use of nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs.

Wacky Web Tales allows you to make up your own wacky tale.

Gaeilge

Cúla4 has many programmes and games which are aimed at helping children learn and be entertained with Irish language content. The Cúla4 App is also available to download for smart phones and tablets from the Apple App Store. 

Scoilnet is the official education portal of the Department of Education and Skills in Ireland. You will find plenty of Irish resources here as well as resources for all other curricular areas for all ages and levels.

Maths

Math Playground has free online maths problem solving activities, logic games and number puzzles which kids love to play.

Maths Zone has hundreds of useful maths activities for all class levels

Top Marks is a searchable site of thousands of quality interactive resources

Education.com – Free online maths games for all levels

Numberblocks YouTube channel has many short maths videos which revise the main concepts covered in Junior and Senior Infants.

Scoilnet is the official education portal of the Department of Education and Skills in Ireland. You will find plenty of Irish resources here as well as resources for all other curricular areas for all ages and levels.

Top Marks is a searchable site of thousands of quality teaching resources, interactive resources, homework, exam and revision help. Useful for teachers, pupils and parents.

Bitesize is the BBC’s free online study support resource for school-age pupils. It is designed to aid pupils with their schoolwork.

Crickweb has lots of free online education resources and games.

Letters and Sounds has lots of interactive phonics games for children in Junior and Senior Infants.

CBeebies has plenty of fun activities for children in Junior and Senior Infants.

SESE

National Geographic Kids makes it fun to explore your world with weird, wild, and wacky videos! Videos featuring awesome animals, cool science, history and geography facts.

Science Bug is a new and exciting hands-on science programme designed for today’s curious kids.

Science Foundation Ireland has a database of science activities covering all four strands of the Irish Primary Science Curriculum.

NASA Climate Kids is an educational website with activities, resources and games to teach kids of all ages about Earth’s systems, water cycle, weather and climate.

BBC Bitesize Science offers learning resources for children, parents and teachers organised by topic.

Bill NYE /The Science Guy website has science videos and experiments for children to do with a parent or adult at home.

BrainPOP’s science movies introduce you to how the world works, from breakthrough scientists to cellular life, matter and motion, and even the weather!

The Marine Institute allows you to explore science lesson plans and activities relating to the marine environment which cater to all primary school levels.

European Science Agency – Kids  features space news, information, animations and downloads for kids aged between 6 and 12.

Science Kids is the home of science & technology on the Internet for children around the world.
